Travel into the grey area

Caught this little gem about a TSA agent here in NJ who stole $200k worth of goods from peoples luggage and sold it on Ebay.  Lesson learned… ship your stuff ahead of time.

Who’s watching the Watchmen

If the trailer is at all indicative of what the movie will be,  I would like to skip forward to March 6th.

For those of you who havent heard of the Watchmen before I would recommend you head over to Barnes and Noble to pick yourself up a copy of Thee Most celebrated Graphic Novel of All Time.

You can get the wikipedia d.l. here. WATCHMEN

Kanyes coming home

I cant help but write about these fantastic celebrities. The world would have no problems, no war, hunger issues would be solved, and terrorism defeated if we listened to the words of our celebrity brethren.  Every once and a while though, one shows they can actually walk the walk.

For those of you who missed it today, Kanye West was arrested earlier for attacking, assaulting, defending his right to go about his daily life without being harassed by the horrid paparazzi. The video can be seen here from our friends at TMZ (the very paparazzi who do the harassing).  Kanye attack caught on Tape

Kanye, you keep doing your thing man. I think I’d go ballistic if I couldn’t walk ten feet without being asked stupid questions and continued to be blinded by flashes. If I had an extra 20k I’d come bail you out, as long as I can get a picture with you… err I mean, uhh please dont smash my Canon. Damn, I blew it.

And for the record, he was bailed out tonight. Chi Town, Hes coming home to you.

At the Toronto Film Festival last weekend it appears Roger Ebert got Nancy Kerriganed. For those of you who don’t remember a former Figure Skater getting her knee bashed in by a certain rival skater and her boyfriend,

Ebert claims the story got spun out of control by the media. Gee, go figure. Thanks for the laugh though.

You can catch the Yahoo story here…  Fellow critic hits Ebert during film festival

Ike is coming

Ike is en route to make landfall in Texas tomorrow, and is presently 370 Miles from Galveston. I hope you all get out in time and stay safe.  Sometimes the road of life becomes overwhelming, terrorizing us with the prospect of defeat. But know the nation is with you. We wont allow you to stand alone in this time of crisis. We wont allow another Katrina.

I caught these videos on the news today and I’d like to ask a question… What is wrong with people?

First we have Matt Damon talking about Gov. Palin and her inexperience….. Comparing the election to a bad disney movie. I wont stoop as low to make fun of the movies you have made Matt, I really like you as an actor. I don’t really know much about your personal life, and quite honestly I dont care. But please keep your mouth shut…. Your not helping the cause. And please get out there and make another blockbuster hit.

I guess Sarah Silverman isnt the only one bleeping Matt Damon

Thennnnn…. theres our fabulous members of congress doing absolutely nothing there on capital hill. Here we have Rep. Cohen of Tennessee looking as if he was awoken to give a speech a la alfalfa. He compares Obama’s work as a Community Organizer to Jesus Christ…. Uhhhh and Palin to Pontius Pilot.  Sorry to have woken you from a bad dream Congressman.

Oh boy. I think I’m in a bad dream where dumb people dont know when to stop talking. Silence is Golden. Thanks Matt and Congressman for the good laughs because Im not taking either of these seriously.

Music of the week

For this Friday September 12th, I’ve decided to do a new weekly post about the music that has caught my attention. It may not be the latest songs, but they are definately worth listening to.

This week I’ve chosen 2 songs by 2 different artists.

The first is a single by Terrance Howard, yes the actor, called Sanctuary. The song gives the feeling of sitting in an 40’s style club to hear a true artist perform. And for the video, Terrance Howard dresses the part.

The second I chose for both the Video and for the Song. You may know Timmy Curran as a pro surfer but like Jack Johnson and crew, he provides a nice oceanic beat only a true waterman can know.  The song is called “Blue Eyes”

Remember.

These nights of September have begun like any other. Change is in the air with the chill of fall settling down on the North East. As the sun set to the west, I look east for once and grabbed Toby’s leash to stare at the nights sky.   I look up the street towards Manhattan on this eve of 9/11, to see where the search lights stand like guards over an empty skyline. They shoot straight up to the clouds brought in by the changing weather, scattering the light within.  I walk Toby past American Flags dotting the streets, feeling a sense of emptiness and remembrance.  It still feels so far away in this silence of night with not a soul on the roads surrounding my house.

9/11 has come now and I wonder if we truly remember.  The days and months following that fateful day, the panic that ensued.  As with all the people from this area, today, we look towards the city and up to the sky. Remembering where we were that day and those we lost.

I saw an article on Yahoo Sports today called Mark McGwire’s summer of love. Who would have thought, a whole ten (10!) years have passed since Mark McGwire has beaten Maris’s record. With this single day in history I saw the price of his autographed rookie card rise beyond my imagination. As a high school kid, I dreamed of the riches it would bring me. How I owned something that would one day be compared to Mantles rookie in stature and value. I remember how the summer was thrilling, the best in baseball for me since Ripken broke Gehrigs consecutive games streak in 95. And now these are nothing more then defunct dreams. How short lived it was. Thank You Mark. Baseball will never be the same.

I dont blame Mark McGwire by himself. There is something to be said about the sudden rise in homerun averages across the board, the once skinny athetes suddenly rivally Hulk Hogan in their arms diameter. Who would have thought, Steroids in Sports.

Stuff White People Like

I caught this blog called Stuff White People Like . Take it for face value, Its not meant to be racist or insulting, but it hits the nail on the head for the most part.
